Ukraine to receive more drones for its army and more air defense systems from Norway to protect civilians and critical infrastructure from Russian attacks.
This was reported on the country's government portal.
“Ukraine is in dire need of more military equipment to defend itself from Russian aggression. Together with other countries, Norway will make every possible effort to contribute,” said the country's Defense Minister Bjørn Arild Gram.
Norway will allocate 570 million Norwegian kroner (more than 48 million euros) for the purchase of drones and air defense systems. The weapons will be purchased through the International Fund for Ukraine (IFU), headed by Great Britain. Along with Norway, Britain, the Netherlands and Lithuania have contributed to the acquisition of air defense systems and drones.
The goal of the IFU is to acquire weapons, ammunition and other military materials for Ukraine by purchasing directly from manufacturers. Since the start of the full-scale war, Norway has contributed a total of almost 152.5 million euros to the fund.
Recall that the Norwegian government “opened the way” for providing Norwegian defense technologies to Ukraine and is allocating funds for the implementation of this project. The Norwegian-Finnish weapons manufacturer Nammo will transfer 155 mm artillery ammunition technology to Ukraine and help establish production.
