Some UK supermarkets are experiencing a drinking water shortage due to supply disruptions. Reported by RIA Novosti. Videos from British grocery stores were posted on the agency's Telegram channel.
The footage captured half-empty shelves in a supermarket, where previously there were bottles of water. It is noted that it was mainly delivered from the EU countries, and British stocks began to dry up. After Brexit, the shortage of truck drivers has worsened in the country: some have left for their homeland, others have not yet had time to pass their license. Because of this, the processes of supplying goods to grocery stores have significantly slowed down.
On August 8, the British government announced that it intends to seek help from the military due to a lack of food. Given the current situation, the British authorities will ask the army to send about two thousand drivers from the Royal Logistics Corps to deliver food and medicine to stores.
The conflict over the supply of products has been going on for several months. In June, the EU and Britain exchanged threats over the importation of food into Northern Ireland. Initially, the protocol was required in order to avoid the emergence of a border with the Republic of Ireland, an independent state that will remain part of the European Union.
