Dozens of people working at the headquarters of the World Health Organization (WHO) have contracted the SARS-CoV-2 coronavirus. Associated Press reported this with reference to representatives of the organization.
At least one hotbed of infection was found in the WHO office – the last five infected people were infected from the same colleague. In total, 65 people have been infected in recent weeks. Of these, 32 worked permanently at headquarters and observed all prescribed precautions.
In early November, representatives of the organization reported that there were no foci of the spread of the disease in its Geneva office. Nevertheless, all employees visiting it were instructed to refuse general meetings in specially designated areas.
Earlier on November 16, the head of WHO, Tedros Adan Ghebreyesus, spoke about the role of the vaccine in defeating the pandemic – according to him, the presence of vaccination will not replace all other tools to combat it, but will only supplement them.
