“Doors are open”: Zelensky invited world leaders to Kyiv with a phrase used by NATO

The President believes that every politician should choose whether to visit the capital of a warring country .

Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky has decided not to call on foreign leaders to come to Kyiv given the war in Ukraine, but said “the doors are open for them.”

About this he spoke in an interview with public broadcasters, which was broadcast on Ukrainian TV channels on March 21.

Zelensky recalled that the prime ministers of three European states — Poland, the Czech Republic and Slovenia — recently visited Kyiv. Also, according to him, this intention was expressed by Lithuanian President Gitanas Nauseda and several other leaders, including French President Emmanuel Macron.

However, the president did not call on world leaders for such risky visits. “I don't want to set them up. We have a war, it's a choice. I will say as NATO tells us: “The doors are open,” the president said.

Recall that President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelensky and Prime Minister Denys Shmigal met on March 15 in Kyiv with the heads of governments of Poland, the Czech Republic and Slovenia .
