“So I became the president of Kalmyk, and we awarded Vanga the honorary title of citizen of Kalmykia. Here she is with a flag, ”recalls the first president of Kalmykia, Kirsan Ilyumzhinov.

Kirsan Ilyumzhinov and the Bulgarian soothsayer had known each other for many years. In her small house in the town of Petrich, the clairvoyant made a prediction of her whole life for the future head of the republic.

“I wanted to leave – I had a business, in Switzerland, America. She said: no, you will return to your place in Kalmykia. I say: I have other plans. She says: no, you will come back and you will be the senior there, ”Ilyumzhinov said.

Vanga has become a brand in Bulgaria, even more famous than Golden Sands and Sunny Beach. It sold well too. They began to pay for sessions with a clairvoyant – officially, through the cashier. For insiders – 10 Bulgarian leva. For foreigners – $ 50.

“Mostly people came: my head hurts, my leg hurts. She sent to such and such a doctor. And so that in the morning she decided to issue predictions, such as Nostradamus – no, this simply did not happen, ”says businessman and friend of Vanga Dimitar Gachev.

She talked about atomic war and deserted Europe. Only a few predictions that did not come true. But whose words were these: hers or that of numerous chroniclers? You can't figure it out without Vanga.

“All Vanga's predictions – about a pandemic, about September 11, about the fall of regimes – became known about them after they happened. I myself checked some of the predictions and did not find the original source, ”- video blogger Mikhail Lidin.

Anatoly Stroyev has worked in Bulgaria for many years. I collected a whole dossier on Vangu. The journalist is sure: many of Vanga's prophecies were invented by his colleagues – for the sake of a bright headline.

“People came to her from Ogonyok – the children in Volgograd disappeared. The material was dashing, and she allegedly said that the children were alive, and they would be found. Not found until today. Such predictions voiced by journalists are even blasphemous, ”journalist Anatoly Stroyev is sure.

They go to Vanga even after death. The town of Petrich, where the soothsayer lived, and her house in the village of Rupite, where the psychic hosted, is today one of the most popular tourist routes in Bulgaria.

“In many countries of the world, Bulgaria is known for Baba Vanga. And she has collected a good, positive image for Bulgaria. The fact that they earn on this – yes, you come to Petrichi, there are photographs, souvenirs, books. But this is good, ”Ilyumzhinov said.

She was indifferent to money. During her lifetime, she built a church with her own money and donations. After her death, she bequeathed all her property to the state.
