Dog hair clothing becomes popular in Germany

by alex

Anne-Katrin Schönrock, a German resident, came up with the idea of making clothes from dog hair by accident. Once she saw how a neighbor, having combed out his four-legged pet of the Keeshond breed, put the wool in a bag and carried it to the trash can. Without hesitation, the girl asked to give the package to her.

– I thought that since we wear clothes made of sheep's wool, why not sew them from dog's wool, – says Schönrock. – I personally wear such a cardigan. And you know, it is 80% warmer than usual.

Anna-Catherine's production is only one year old. She calls it a startup, in which, in order for it to make a profit on an industrial scale, you still need to invest. But the girl already has a circle of suppliers who supply her with raw materials. Moreover, this is a dog's hair of different colors, lengths and structures. It is washed, sorted and processed. “Suppliers”, having learned that the designer has taken up a useful business, bear it and do not demand anything in return.

According to Schönrock, you don't have to brush your dog. After all, wool somehow remains on sofas and rugs, it only needs to be collected.

“Now our task is to get one ton of raw materials for launching industrial production, but for now we only produce piece models – hats, scarves, and we also sell yarn in the store,” the designer continues.

There are enough buyers for the new eco-friendly product, although its cost is much higher than for an ordinary skein of wool – about 30 euros (a regular one costs half the price).
