Doctors reveal skin problems in COVID-19 survivors
Some patients, after suffering from COVID-19, may develop skin diseases, including chronic life-threatening ones. This was reported to AGN “Moscow” by Olga Olisova, head of the Rakhmanov Department of Skin and Venereal Diseases at Sechenov University.
According to the specialist, she and her colleagues are currently observing several of these patients. “In one of them, the infection provoked the onset of herpes zoster, in the other – pemphigus, a life-threatening disease. This person will be monitored for life, receive therapy for this disease, ”said Olisova. At the same time, the doctor clarified that this is not a frequent occurrence. Most of those who have recovered do not experience skin problems.
The long-term consequences of a mild form of coronavirus were previously named. Swedish scientists observed 2,149 employees at Danderid Hospital, about 19% of whom had antibodies to COVID-19. As a result, 11% of those who had recovered had at least one symptom that manifested itself for at least eight months. Among the most common symptoms are loss of smell and taste, fatigue, and trouble breathing.
