American doctors have refuted one of the most popular myths about the dangers of gluten and put an end to the debate about the dangers of gluten, writes Eat This, Not That !.

According to them, this plant protein is blamed for the appearance of many diseases in humans. Some people may have an intolerance to gluten, which can cause headaches and joint problems. They disappear immediately after a person stops using it. Experts believe that a group of proteins found in the seeds of cereals, especially wheat, rye and barley, are often blamed for worsening irritable bowel syndrome, leading to constipation or diarrhea.

Scientists in the United States studied data from 100 volunteers with this disease for nine months. They tracked the dietary intake of gluten and poorly digestible sugars in the participants' diets.

It turned out that the content of fermentable oligosaccharides in the menu increased the risk of complications in irritable bowel syndrome, while gluten had no effect on the condition of the subjects. “Our research shows that gluten does not affect the symptoms of this disease,” lead study author Elise Nordin put an end to the controversy about the dangers of the component. However, she admitted that some people may have an individual gluten intolerance.

Earlier, nutritionist, candidate of biological sciences Alexander Miroshnikov urged Russians not to give up eating foods that contain gluten.
