The consequences of the transferred coronavirus are individual for each person, but there are several of the most common. They are found in every tenth sick person. The Izvestia newspaper, based on the data of scientists and doctors, named five main consequences of the infection.
The virus, provoking vascular damage, leads to the development of primary heart damage – cardiomyopathy. In addition, patients often experience cardiac arrhythmias and myocarditis, said an expert in cardiology, Professor Mehman Mammadov.
The second common consequence, according to a Yale University study, is that 61 to 78 percent of coronavirus patients develop kidney problems. In the future, these functions are not restored in patients.
According to Nika Takhchidi, a member of the Russian Society of Ophthalmologists, complications often affect the organs of vision. So, in patients with COVID-19, conjunctivitis, changes in the retina, inflammation and thrombosis of the vessels of the eyes are observed.
Another major complication is the malfunction of the olfactory system. In most patients, it recovers within two weeks, but in some, the disorder lasts up to several months. “Some scientists believe that the virus infects the olfactory nerve fibers that are located in the nasal cavity,” said Maria Petina, deputy chief physician of the Medsi Clinical Diagnostic Center.
In addition, according to Pena, patients are often diagnosed with bowel disorders: diarrhea, colitis, the development of pathogenic flora, and so on. Doctors associate this not only with the disease, but also with mass treatment with antiviral drugs.
To avoid such consequences for the body, according to experts, only vaccination helps.
Earlier, Andrei Yavisya, director of the Semashko Clinical Hospital “Russian Railways Medicine”, compared the consequences of vaccination and a previous illness. He noted that adverse reactions after vaccination are extremely rare and disappear within a few days.
