Doctor and TV presenter Yevgeny Komarovsky has dispelled the popular misconception associated with the treatment of the common cold. On the air of the heading “Ask Komarovsky” on the TV channel “Ukraine”, the doctor said that antibiotic solutions for rinsing the nose are ineffective.

According to the doctor, antibiotic solutions can be used only in two cases: the first is when they are buried in the eyes with purulent conjunctivitis, and the second is when they are buried in the ear with purulent otitis media. “That is, when there is a certain closed cavity, from where antibiotics are not absorbed into the blood. When a high concentration of an antibiotic can be achieved in this cavity, then the antibiotic can be injected there, ”explained Komarovsky.

The specialist called the use of antibiotic solutions for rinsing the nose “one of the biggest crimes.” As Komarovsky specified, drugs entering the nose run down the back of the pharynx and enter the stomach. “This is an ideal model for the formation of antibiotic resistance,” the doctor said and added that in such a situation, effective drugs gradually lose their meaning, because bacteria resistant to them appear in the human body.

Earlier Komarovsky urged to abandon the use of heart drops with severe stress or pain in the heart. According to him, they contain strong calming ingredients: they only temporarily dull pain and do not protect against heart attack or stroke.
