The owner of rehabilitation clinics after serious injuries, Dr. Evgeny Blum, was detained in Spain in a case of multimillion dollar fraud. This was announced by the Investigative Committee of Russia.
Rambler wrote that in the summer of 2019, the Basmanny Court of Moscow arrested in absentia the head of the Scientific Research Institute of Physical Rehabilitation and New Rehabilitation Technologies, Yevgeny Blum. He is accused of embezzling more than 29 million rubles. The money was received for the treatment of freestyler Maria Komisarova, who suffered a spinal injury and can no longer walk. Blum promised to put her on her feet, but the treatment did not work.
The UK recalled that Blum, who is located in Spain, was charged in absentia with large-scale fraud. He was put on the wanted list.
“According to the NCB of Interpol of the Ministry of Internal Affairs of Russia, Blum was detained by law enforcement agencies of Spain on the territory of this state on February 11, 2021,” the department explained today.
The Investigative Committee clarified that the General Prosecutor's Office of Russia has already “provided all the necessary materials for sending a request for the extradition of the accused to the competent authorities of Spain.”
