Australians have reacted angrily to news that tennis player Novak Djokovic will play in the Australian Open after being exempted from vaccinations.
All Australian Open players and staff must be vaccinated or have an exemption granted by an independent panel of experts.
Djokovic did not provide information on whether he was vaccinated, but previously stated that he was against vaccination.

Prime Minister Scott Morrison said that the Serbian player will have to present evidence upon arrival that he is indeed medically exempt from vaccination. If the data is not enough, he will fly home on the next plane.

Organizers say the reigning champion has received little attention, but the decision has infuriated many Australians. The continent is now experiencing tens of thousands of Covid-19 cases after the country withstood some of the most stringent quarantines in the world.
