A resident of the English city of Gainsborough, Lincolnshire, named Ian, has settled 70 cats in his home and regularly takes the animals for walks. This is reported by Metro.
The 56-year-old bachelor and childless Briton has been saving cats since 1992. For 29 years, he went out to more than five thousand animals, two thousand of which he taught to help people suffering from epilepsy. According to Ian, cats can recognize an impending seizure, sometimes even hours before it.
Recently, a cat lover ran into difficulties – his neighbors got angry and complained to the police that the animals are being kept in poor conditions. On Thursday, September 3, animal welfare protesters gathered outside Ian's house. They argued that there was not enough space on the site and in the house of the Briton for so many cats. They accused the man that it was illegal and immoral to train and walk cats.
In response to the claims, Ian said that he is not doing anything illegal, all his cats are healthy, well-groomed and live in comfortable conditions. He added that at one time 140 animals lived in his house at the same time. From time to time, the Briton travels with trained cats and shows performances. He spends about five thousand pounds (500 thousand rubles) a year on food, treats, toys and on the treatment of his pets.
The police forwarded the complaint of local residents to the animal welfare society, whose representatives will come to Ian with an inspection.
“I don’t drink, I don’t smoke, I don’t run after women. I just spend time with cats and all the troubles go away. In addition, it is very warm in the room with the cats, ”the Briton stated his life philosophy.
Earlier it was reported that the Spanish animal rights activists have achieved the eviction of a resident of Valencia from the apartment in which he lived with 110 cats. Initially, animal rights activists could not even correctly count the total number of animals living with the Spaniard, having strayed after 90.
