A fake wedding at Disneyland Paris has gone beyond scandal after new revelations. The “groom” of the 9-year-old girl turned out to be a British man who had previously been convicted of sexual crimes against children. The man is involved in an investigation in France and is wanted in his home country.
This was reported by Channel 24 with reference to Le Parisien.
“The groom” had a previous conviction.
It turned out that the 39-year-old man had previously been convicted in the UK for corrupting minors. He is currently wanted by British law enforcement for violating the requirements for registering as a sex offender. At the same time, he is in custody in France. The name of the “groom” has not yet been revealed.
A man under a false name approached the Disneyland Paris administration with a request to rent part of the park for a wedding. He called himself a 22-year-old Irishman from Germany, probably using false documents. The rent cost him 130 thousand euros. The ceremony was held early in the morning, before the park opened to visitors.
It later became known that the bride was a 9-year-old Ukrainian girl. Eyewitnesses noticed that the child looked confused, was wearing heels and could not move normally. They called the police. When law enforcement arrived, the man identified himself as a British producer and explained that the wedding was supposedly a “staged video.” The child's mother confirmed his words, claiming that it was a gift – “princess day” for her daughter.
After a medical examination, the prosecutor's office stated that no sexual violence or physical coercion against the child was recorded. However, law enforcement officers continue to check all the circumstances. Also involved in the case is a 24-year-old Latvian citizen – the organizer of the event. She is suspected of fraud, identity theft and money laundering.
