Disney developed the Groot robot from the popular superhero film Guardians of the Galaxy. It will be used in an amusement park.
This was reported in the TechCrunch edition, which spoke with Walt Disney Imagineering R&D specialists. So, according to them, the idea of developing such a robot appeared about three years ago. Then the company intended to implement not a simple animatronics, but a full-fledged replacement for actors, able to keep a company of children in an amusement park.
At the moment, the robot Groot has the ability to perform about 50 different actions, including walking, changing emotions and dancing. Now it can run on battery power for less than an hour, but later experts intend to increase this time.
