Placing someone on the “black list” on the phone does not guarantee that he will not be able to reach the subscriber. This was warned by Evgeny Kashkin, associate professor of the Department of Intelligent Information Security Systems at RTU MIREA, Prime reports.
He pointed out that all mobile operators have a paid service called “number identification restriction”, in which the call will be identified as unknown, but will go to the addressee. However, there is also a free way to bypass the “black list” using the standard functions of the smartphone.
On Android devices, you can enable number hiding in the advanced settings of your smartphone. At the same time, Kashkin clarified, not all phones on this operating system show this option. On iPhone, this function is available since iOS 7. To do this, turn off the “Show number” option in the settings.
The expert noted that now the majority of users no longer answer calls from hidden numbers, fearing fraudsters. He called this behavior “reasonable” and warned that attackers were technically advanced and now often use spoofing of numbers.
