Digital reconstruction of a medieval estate created in Veliky Novgorod

Experts from the Novgorod State United Museum-Reserve from May 25 to May 27 took part in the fifth international conference “Archeology and Geoinformatics”, organized by the Institute of Archeology of the Russian Academy of Sciences. The conference is dedicated to the use of geographic information systems (GIS), remote sensing data (ERS), geophysical methods and three-dimensional computer modeling in archeology.

Head of the Center for Archaeological Research, Candidate of Historical Sciences Olga Tarabardina and Senior Researcher Mikhail Petrov, together with colleagues Natalya Faradzheva, Dmitry Salomatin and Pavel Sapozhnikov, presented a three-dimensional reconstruction of a Novgorod estate of the 14th century, which was investigated at the Duboshin-II excavation site. The Center for Archaeological Research of the Novgorod Museum-Reserve carried out work on this excavation site, located at the Slavno end of medieval Novgorod, in 2017-2019.
