Died Russian journalist, founder of the project “Sputnik and Pogrom” banned in Russia Yegor Prosvirnin, according to the Telegram channel “Moscow Says”. According to preliminary data, he fell out of a window in Moscow.

The journalist's death was reported on the evening of December 27 by his wife. The founder of the site banned in the Russian Federation was 35 years old.

Earlier it was reported that a naked man fell out of the window of a multi-storey building on Tverskaya Street in Moscow and died before the ambulance arrived. Some eyewitnesses claimed that the deceased had a knife in his hands.

Relatives identified the body and confirmed that the deceased was Yegor Prosvirnin.

In July 2017, Roskomnadzor added the Sputnik and Pogrom website to the list of blocked resources. The reason for the blocking was “the propaganda of the idea of national and religious hatred, which forms threats to public security and encourages extremism.”

In September 2015, after one of the publications on the Sputnik and Pogrom resource, a criminal case on extremism was initiated. As part of the case, the editor-in-chief of the resource Yegor Prosvirnin was searched, his phone, office equipment and information carriers were seized. The article, which caused the claims of the investigation, talked about the goals and objectives of Russian nationalism. In addition, it expressed active support for Novorossiya. Further developments were not reported.

The Sputnik and Pogrom website was launched in April 2012. The site gained popularity thanks to humorous social media posters. The NTV channel described the position of Sputnik and the Pogrom, which refers to Russian philosophers of the early 20th century and talks about right-wing ideology in Europe, as “nationalism with a human face.”
