The North American Ice Hockey League (NHL) mourns the loss of one of its ex-players. James Ryan, aka “Jimmy,” Hayes was found dead at his Boston home on Monday. That was confirmed by the NHL. Hayes was only 31 years old. No information was given about the exact cause of death. The ex-athlete leaves behind a wife and two young sons.

Hayes played in the NHL for eight seasons, most recently in 2017/18 for the New Jersey Devils. In total, he completed 334 games in the top ice hockey league, in which he contributed 54 hits and 55 assists.
