Director of the Research Institute of Neurosurgery named after Burdenko, academician Alexander Potapov
Academician of the Russian Academy of Sciences, professor, doctor of medical sciences Alexander Potapov died in Moscow. He was 72 years old. The cause of death has not been reported.
Health Minister Mikhail Murashko expressed his condolences.
“In the development of scientific approaches in the field of reconstructive and minimally invasive surgery, Alexander Potapov was one of the pioneers. He made a significant contribution to the study of the problem of autonomic status as a result of severe traumatic brain injury,” – writes the Ministry of Health of the Russian Federation.
Alexander Potapov organized and assisted the victims of the explosion at the railway station in Arzamas (1988), the earthquake in Armenia (1988), in the armed conflicts in the former Yugoslavia.
Academician Potapov is the author and co-author of more than 400 scientific papers, twice laureate of the State Prize of the Russian Federation in the field of science and technology, laureate of the RF Government Prize, Orders of Honor, “For Services to the Fatherland” IV degree, medals “For Labor Valor”.
