The White House confirmed that they planned to exchange Alexei Navalny as part of an agreement with Russia.
Russian oppositionist Alexei Navalny, who died in February in prison, was supposed to participate in the exchange of prisoners between the Russian Federation and Western countries.
US Presidential National Security Adviser Jake Sullivan stated this at a briefing.
“We and our partners were working on an agreement that would include Alexei Navalny. Unfortunately, he died,” Sullivan said.
The politician did not provide any other details. However, Navalny’s associates mentioned such an agreement earlier.
Recall that today in Turkey there was a large-scale exchange of prisoners between Russia and the West.
At least 10 Russian political prisoners were released, as well as two Americans accused of espionage and a German citizen sentenced to death in Belarus. There is not a single Ukrainian among those released.
CNN spoke about the role of Kamala Harris and the CIA in the prisoner exchange.
Recall that on February 16, 2024, Russian opposition leader Alexei Navalny died in a correctional colony.
