Did Putin give the order to kill Navalny – Reuters

by alex

Russian dictator Vladimir Putin probably did not give a direct order to kill jailed Russian opposition leader Alexei Navalny.

US intelligence agencies find that Russian dictator Vladimir Putin probably did not order the murder of Russian opposition politician Alexei Navalny in prison.

Reuters writes about this with reference to the Wall Street Journal.

47-year-old Navalny was Putin's most vocal internal critic at the time of his death. His allies, whom Russian authorities call extremists, accused Putin of his murder and said they would provide evidence to support their accusations.

The Kremlin denies any involvement in this. Last month, Putin called Navalny's death “sad” and said he was willing to hand over a jailed Western politician as part of a prisoner exchange on the condition that Navalny never returned to Russia. Navalny's associates admitted that such negotiations took place.

The magazine, citing unnamed people familiar with the case, reports that US intelligence agencies have concluded that Putin likely did not order Navalny's killing in February.

The publication writes that Washington does not absolve the Russian dictator of full responsibility for the death of Navalny, given that the opposition politician was persecuted by the Russian authorities for years, he was imprisoned on charges that the West considers politically motivated, and was poisoned in 2020 nerve agent.

Kremlin Speaker Dmitry Peskov responded to the Wall Street Journal report and called it “empty speculation.”

“I saw the material, I would not say that it is high-quality material that deserves attention,” Peskov told reporters.

Recall that dictator Putin said that a few days before the death of Alexei Navalny, he was offered to exchange him for Russians in foreign prisons.
