Apple will reduce the list of devices that support the current version of iOS. This is reported by the iPhonesoft edition.
According to sources, in 2022, the first generation iPhone 6s, iPhone 6s Plus and iPhone SE smartphones will remain without support for the new operating system. The next version of iPadOS will not be available for the 2015 iPad mini 4, iPad Air 2, iPad 5th generation, and iPad Pro.
Also, insiders named the minimum system requirements for iOS 16. Devices that can be updated to the new OS must run on Apple A10 or newer processor. In addition, the journalists noted that Apple will not recognize the seventh generation iPod touch player as obsolete – the model will also receive an update to iOS 16.
The authors believe that new functions of virtual and augmented reality will appear in the operating system. A redesign is also expected: “Since the release of iOS 7 in 2013, the design of the OS has not undergone major changes.”
In June 2021, Apple announced the release of iOS 15. Support for the current OS was received by the same devices that worked under the control of iOS 14.
