Ukrainian Ambassador to Poland Vasily Zvarych confirmed that he intervened in the case.

Polish police on the evening of February 27 assured that ” did not detain a journalist from Ukraine.” This message was published after Ukrayinska Pravda journalist Mikhail Tkach spoke about the detention at the Polish-Belarusian border.

“Attention, fake news! The Podlasie police did not detain the journalist from Ukraine. This is untrue information,” says the message from the Podlasie Voivodeship police.

According to UP information, the same post was retweeted by a verified account of the Polish police. However, at the time of publication of our news, there was no longer a post on the official page of the Polish police.

Most likely, the Podlasie Voivodeship police denied not the very fact of Tkach’s detention, but the fact that the incident occurred on the territory under its jurisdiction.

After all, later the police of the Lublin Voivodeship reported that law enforcement officers took measures to establish the identities of people whose presence in the border zone worried the residents. After identifying the persons, they were released. They did not specify that we were talking about Mikhail Tkach, or about Ukrainian citizens in general.

In a comment to Wirtualna Polska, the Ambassador of Ukraine to Poland Vasily Zvarych confirmed that he intervened in the matter.

“They were filming the movement on the railway, they launched a drone. The police decided to check who it was so that they were not provocateurs. The matter was quickly resolved,” he said.

We would like to remind you that in Poland, near the Polish-Belarusian border, the famous Ukrainian investigative journalist Mikhail Tkach was detained along with his cameraman. The journalist was just filming a story about trade between Poland and Russia and Belarus.

Tkach told the details of the incident and admitted that he had not been treated so harshly for a long time.
