As part of an investigation into the circumstances of an accident in the Chernihiv region, which occurred on December 7 on 14 km of the Chernigov-Gremyach highway, law enforcement officers detained a DAF truck driver.
According to preliminary data, a 44-year-old resident of the Chernihiv region on the section of the road between Snovyanka and Kiselevka lost control, drove into the oncoming lane, where there was a collision with a regular minibus Mercedes Sprinter running Borzna-Chernigov, which was moving in the direction of the regional center.
As a result of the accident, 11 people died on the spot, including the minibus driver. Subsequently, one of the victims died in the ambulance and another in the hospital.
Seven people are currently in Chernigov hospitals with injuries of varying severity.
Among the victims is a truck driver. After receiving medical assistance, he was detained. Now he is in a specialized ward under police protection. The issue of announcing suspicion under Part 3 of Article 286 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine is being resolved – a violation of road safety rules, which resulted in the death of several people.
The investigation continues, law enforcement officers are questioning witnesses, examinations are being carried out.

Also, expert examinations of the technical condition of the truck and minibus have been appointed, in particular, they will check the operation of brakes, steering wheels and the degree of tire wear.

As a result of an accident in the Chernihiv region, 13 people were killed, seven more were hospitalized.
The police and emergency services almost whole day we worked at the scene of the accident, so traffic on this section of the road was blocked in both directions.
The operation of the highway was resumed yesterday at 19.45 after the completion of the operational activities.
