Lev Zeleny, head of the Space Research Institute of the Russian Academy of Sciences, revealed details about the first Russian mission to Venus. He stated this in an interview with RIA Novosti.

Zeleny said that the design of the Venera-D spacecraft and the development of a comprehensive program for planetary exploration received funding for two years in advance. He noted that the following projects will be discussed within the framework of this mission. According to the scientist, it is planned that this will be not only one mission, but a comprehensive program of further research.

Earlier it was reported that Russia plans to send a mission to find life on Venus. A representative of the Lavochkin Research and Production Association (NPO) said that the Russian Venus exploration program includes three missions in 2029-2034. The first of these is Venera-D, launched in November 2029 to study the surface, atmosphere, internal structure and surrounding plasma of the planet.
