US Senator Ron Wyden revealed the details of the cyber attacks on the US government attributed to Russia. Reported by The Washington Post.
The politician said that in a recent attack, hackers gained access to dozens of US Treasury Department email accounts. He noted that the criminals also infiltrated the systems of the department's leading department. According to him, the Ministry of Finance still does not know what kind of information fell into the hands of the attackers. Wyden added that the IRS was also hacked.
Earlier it was reported that US President-elect Joe Biden decided to respond to the “Russian” cyberattacks to which US federal agencies were subjected.
The attacks, which are attributed to Russian hackers, first became known on December 14. It was alleged that they allegedly carried out an attack on the US Department of Homeland Security and gained access to internal communications with the department.
The attack was part of a campaign that also hacked into the systems of the US Treasury Department and the National Telecommunications and Information Administration. Moscow rejects accusations of hacker attacks on American departments and considers them unfounded.
