The head of the European Commission (EC), Ursula von der Leyen, revealed details about the second package of EU (EU) sanctions against Russia. Her words on Friday, February 25, are quoted by TASS.
According to the head of the EC, the second package of sanctions affects 70 percent of the Russian banking services market and key state-owned companies, including defense ones.
Earlier, the President of the European Parliament (EP), Roberta Metsola, called on the European Union (EU) to impose “the most severe” sanctions against Russia. Metsola noted that the new sanctions should be “urgent and strict, no one should hide from them.”
On February 24, Russian President Vladimir Putin announced that he had decided to conduct a special military operation to protect Donbass. He announced this during an appeal to fellow citizens. Putin has also turned to outside forces that might try to pose a threat to Russia. According to him, Russia's response will be immediate.
