Describes the rules for installing Windows 11 on old PCs

Microsoft has explained how to circumvent the restrictions for installing Windows 11. This is reported in the support section of the company's website.

In the published instructions, Microsoft experts describe the rules for installing the OS on computers that do not support some options important for installing the system. In particular, to install Windows 11 on a PC without TPM 2.0 support, you need to open the Registry Editor and go to HKEY_LOCAL_machine system Setup MoSetup. Here you create a DWORD (32-bit) named AllowUpgradesWithUnsupportedTPMOrCPU with the value 1.

According to the company's engineers, in this way the current operating system can be installed even on old PCs. In this case, the presence of a TPM cryptographic processor is still necessary, however, the system will require support for TPM 1.2, which can be present on a large number of devices.

Technical support specialists warned users that incorrectly modifying the system registry settings using Registry Editor or in any other way could lead to serious problems. “By making changes to the register, you act at your own peril and risk,” the company said in a statement.

Windows 11 was released in early October. Earlier, the general director of the information and analytical agency TelecomDaily Denis Kuskov said that before installing a new OS, the system requirements of the software should be checked. “If your computer is old, you need to weigh the pros and cons,” he said.
