Denmark refused to provide Ukraine with the promised 400 Stinger missiles: says they are outdated

Copenhagen does not intend to send other weapons.

Denmark still abandoned its previous decision and will not send weapons to Ukraine. The fact is that the 400 Stinger missiles that they wanted to provide to the Armed Forces turned out to be obsolete.

This was stated by Minister of Defense Morten Bodskov, reports The Copenhagen Post.

The minister noted that 400 Stinger missiles turned out to be obsolete and are subject to disposal, and Copenhagen does not intend to send other weapons.

Denmark acquired these MANPADS from the United States in the late 1980s and early 1990s. However, in 2010, the country sent these complexes to warehouses, as the Ministry of Defense reduced air defense. Three years ago, Denmark sold some of its Stingers to Latvia.

In turn, Danish Defense Chief Fleming Lentfer assured that apart from these missiles, Copenhagen has nothing else to share with Ukraine. This writes “European truth”.

“We have what we use ourselves. I don’t see anything that we could transfer,” he said.

Lentfer added that 1,000 night vision goggles and 700 binoculars are also stored in the military warehouses, but they cannot be used on the battlefield.

“They are outdated both operationally and technically. They were withdrawn from combat use in 2009,” Lentfer said. According to him, these devices could be sent to Ukraine, but this would be more of a symbolic act than real help.

At the same time, Denmark is alarmed by Russia's military activity. The country's government has raised the level of defense readiness, according to which a battalion of 700-800 people should be deployed within 1-5 days. Two F-16 fighters were deployed to the island of Bornholm to protect Danish airspace.

Earlier, the United Kingdom told what kind of military assistance it had transferred for the terrorist defense forces of Ukraine.
