Demir
The deal is perfect! Yusuf Demir will play for FC Barcelona in the future. This is a dream come true for the Rapid Jewel.
The Catalans officially announced the signing of the 18-year-old offensive talent on Friday. Demir will be loaned to Blaugrana for one season, after which Barca have agreed a € 10m purchase option. The option on it is worth 500,000 euros to the Catalans.
For Demir there was no hesitation in the offer of the Spanish top club, after all, the heart of the unique ÖFB team player beats blue and red. “With the move to FC Barcelona an incredibly big childhood dream will come true. I will move to my favorite club and the biggest club in the world,” beamed the 18-year-old.
At the same time, the ÖFB team kicker is grateful to the Hütteldorfer: “I came to Rapid as a small child with big dreams and now go as an incredibly grateful boy,” the offensive player continued. “For eight years I was able to learn everything at Rapid and develop myself further. I am incredibly grateful to every supervisor, every teammate and everyone else,” added Demir, who moved from Vienna to Hütteldorf at the age of ten.
Rapid sports director Zoran Barisic saw the change of the exceptional talent with a laughing and a crying eye. “I am sorry that we will not see him in rapid dress next season. FC Barcelona, Demir's dream club, has shown interest in him for a long time and we cannot prevent Yusuf from fulfilling his big dream.” says the green and white sports boss.
With the move to the Catalans, the green-whites have also complied with Demir's express request. Manchester City, Borussia Dortmund or Bayern Munich, who were also on the 18-year-old, had received a basket. “He really wants to go to Barca, so we haven't been able to accept lucrative transfer offers to other top international clubs in recent months,” added the 51-year-old.
At the same time, Rapid will receive ten million euros in the event of a commitment. “I wish Yusuf Demir personally and on behalf of SK Rapid all the best for this unique challenge and opportunity,” concluded Barisic.
