Demand for air tickets to Egypt tripled

After the announcement of the resumption of charter flights to the resorts of Egypt, Aviasales service users searched for tickets in this direction three times more often, the press service of the service told Gazeta.Ru.

“Aviasales users are three times more likely to search for tickets to Egypt in the last hour,” the company said.

OneTwoTrip, in turn, reported that in the first hour after the abolition of the decree banning charters to Egypt, the number of searches for air tickets to this country increased by 143%.

“It turned out that most of all Russians are now interested in flights to Hurghada (searches increased by 266%), and they are also more actively looking for tickets to Sharm El Sheikh (by 243%) and to Cairo (by 40%),” the company said.

In April, when it became known about plans to resume full-fledged air traffic with Egypt, requests “flew into space,” the Aviasales service reported.

On July 8, Russian President Vladimir Putin canceled the decree banning charter flights to Egyptian resorts. Air traffic with him was terminated in 2015 after the crash of the Russian A321 aircraft of the Kogalymavia airline over the Sinai Peninsula. Then 224 people became victims. Flights to Cairo resumed in 2018. However, there were no charter flights, in particular to Hurghada and Sharm el-Sheikh.
