Defining moment of war in Karabakh determined

by alex

The victory of one of the sides in the battle for Shushi will become a turning point in the Azerbaijani-Armenian war. Effective Turkish drones help Baku in battles. However, the assault on Shushi will turn into suicide for Azerbaijani soldiers and Syrian mercenaries. In mid-November, it will become clear who has won. This is the opinion of Neil Hauer, a publicist for the Hong Kong edition of Asia Times (translated by Inosmi).

He writes that the fortified city of Shushi (Shusha), located in the very heart of Karabakh, has been the main target of Baku since the very beginning of the war, where it is called “Azerbaijani Petersburg”.

Now the Azerbaijani army is on the outskirts of Shushi. There are bloody battles.

“If the Armenians can somehow push back the Azerbaijanis and keep the occupied heights, they have a chance to stabilize the situation and drive this war into a dead end with a draw. They occupy a height, and the city of Shushi is an almost ideal natural fortress, surrounded on three sides by high mountains, ”the observer writes.

Armenia reacted to Aliyev's “victory” in Karabakh

He notes that storming the city with manpower is suicide. That is why the plan of the operation provides for the participation of mercenaries in the assault on Shushi – three groups of 150-200 Syrians each.

Hauer also analyzed the course of the Karabakh war.

The “driving force” of this war was Azerbaijani drones. The decisive role is played by the Turkish drone “Bayraktar”. An independent analysis shows that the Bayraktar UAV destroyed almost 100 Armenian tanks, ”he writes.

Another important point that determines the nature of the war is special forces. Where Azerbaijani special forces appear, the main forces of the Azerbaijani army follow them.

Previously, Rambler reported that President Aliyev announced the capture of Shushi, but Yerevan denied this statement. The military commander Semyon Pegov reports from the scene that the battles near the city have turned “into darkness and mess.”

“Sabotage groups and assault detachments are constantly attacking the heights and approaches to Shushi. It's really messy there. It's just darkness. Now everything depends – on the strength of the breath and endurance of the sides. Both are exhausted. Whoever can now gather the strength and will of his fighters into a fist will win the battle for Shushi, ”Pegov notes.

According to him, Shushi did not fall: “the situation is like a swing, the initiative passes from hand to hand – sometimes several times an hour.”
