The Russian Ministry of Defense has information about impending provocations by Ukrainian nationalists in Kramatorsk and Slavyansk. This was reported to Lente.ru by the department.
“The Russian Ministry of Defense has reliable data that similar provocations by Ukrainian nationalists are planned in the settlements of Kramatorsk and Slavyansk . The armed forces of the Russian Federation do not strike at cities and towns, they take all measures to save the lives of civilians, ”the statement says.
Earlier, the ministry said that Ukrainian nationalist formations fired on residential areas of the city of Starobilsk, which is located in the Lugansk region, from Grad multiple launch rocket systems. According to the military, the shelling began on February 26 at 10:30 Moscow time. Due to the impact of shells in the city, a fire started, some residential buildings were destroyed. It is known about the dead civilians, but their number has not yet been reported.
On February 24, Russian President Vladimir Putin announced that he had decided to conduct a special military operation in the Donbass. Ukrainian leader Volodymyr Zelensky announced the severance of diplomatic relations with Russia. Kyiv began the evacuation of embassy staff from Moscow.
