This is the opinion expressed by the director Center for Military and Legal Research Alexander Musienko, reports “Espresso”.
He commented on the information that the captured Wagner mercenaries from Mali could be handed over to Ukraine.
“This is good news. However, I am afraid that the rebels may win out over economic and pragmatic interests. That is, Russia may ransom these prisoners, but again, in such a scenario, the risks for the rebels are very high,” Musienko explained.
According to his assumptions, there are many countries that may be interested in receiving the captured Wagner mercenaries from Mali.
“If the Russians pay well for the captured Wagner mercenaries, they may be released. Ukraine could pay more if these captured Wagnerites are really valuable to us. These Wagnerites are valuable to many countries. In particular, to France. I think the French are still hurt by this, that they lost Mali after they were asked to leave. Therefore, I think that in this matter the key interests will not be those who are against the Russians, but only those who pay more,” the expert concluded.
Recall that in the African republic, small Tuareg rebels defeated the mercenaries of the Russian private military company Wagner. Dozens of Wagner PMC militants were killed and wounded.
