The cause of the sudden death of the Russian politician, whom Putin kept in a colony above the Arctic Circle, has not yet been established.
V Saturday, February 17, the lawyer and mother of Russian oppositionist Alexei Navalny, who suddenly died in a colony in the Yamalo-Nenets Autonomous Okrug of the Russian Federation, did not find the body of the deceased in the morgues of the city of Salekhard.
The Moscow Times reports this with reference to the press secretary of the deceased politician Kira Yarmysh.
“The lawyer called the phone number indicated on the door. He was told that he was the seventh person to call today. They don’t have Alexei’s body in the morgue,” she added.
Navalny’s body is not in the forensic medical examination bureau in Salekhard. An employee of the institution told the journalist of the Astra Telegram channel that “they did not accept any bodies from the colonies” and recommended contacting the Investigative Committee of the Russian Federation.
Another Navalny lawyer, who contacted investigators in Salekhard, was told that the cause of the politician’s death “has not been established, a repeat histological examination was taken.” The results were promised to be provided next week.
The source of the Telegram channel “VChK-OGPU” clarified that the head of the health department of the Yamalo-Nenets Autonomous Okrug and the regional Ministry of Internal Affairs also do not know where Navalny’s body is and none of the morgues reported his delivery.
According to Yarmysh, the authorities are trying to “hide their tracks, so they hide the body.”
“We clearly understand that the colony is lying, it's obvious right now. There is no doubt that the murder was planned… We all saw Alexei's recording from the court on Thursday. He smiled and joked, and this once again indicates that his death could not have occurred due to natural causes,” she noted.
Novaya Gazeta Europe's sources in the Federal Penitentiary Service previously claimed that Navalny's body could be sent for an autopsy to Moscow – this issue was resolved the day before.
The cause of Navalny’s death was not officially announced. Propaganda media sources put forward a version that the oppositionist suffered a blood clot. At the same time, Navalny’s lawyer and mother were told in the colony that the cause was “sudden death syndrome.”
Recall that Alexei Navalny died in prison on February 16 after a walk. Relatives and associates of the oppositionist noticed that a few days before his death he felt well. On the eve of his death, on February 15, Navalny took part in a meeting of the Vladimir Regional Court via video link, felt fine, did not express any complaints, actively spoke, presented evidence in defense of his position.
