On the evening of December 28, a fire broke out in the ward of the intensive care unit of the regional hospital in Kosovo. According to the State Emergency Service, a fire broke out on the first floor of a medical facility.
That evening, four people died and three more medical workers received body burns. People died in the fire , so law enforcement officers began to investigate the causes of the fire.
What is known about the victims
According to the State Emergency Service, rescuers found the bodies of four dead people. According to preliminary data, one person died due to the coronavirus.
The victims of the fire are a 58-year-old woman, a 76-year-old man and a woman, the Ivano-Frankivsk regional prosecutor's office said.
The Rescue Service confirmed that two of them & # 8212; these are bedridden hospital patients , most likely the third person was also treated at the institution.
Three injured doctors were hospitalized with burns varying degrees of severity. Among them & # 8212; junior nurse (90% of the body burned), nurse (60%) and emergency doctor on duty (20%).
Police reaction
The prosecutor's office opened criminal proceedings under part 2 of Article 270 (Violation of the requirements of fire or technogenic safety established by law, if it entailed the death of people, property damage on an especially large scale or other grave consequences) of the Criminal Code of Ukraine.
The greatest punishment under this article of the Criminal Code is imprisonment for a term of three to eight years .
Possible cause of the fire and version of the investigation

The fire broke out due to a contract with the air, which was oversaturated with oxygen. Medical equipment was burning in the flame , cloth and other things.
Rescuers urged citizens to be careful with fire, to protect their health and lives. The investigation is currently ongoing.
