FinExpertiza: the mortality rate of business in the Russian Federation at the end of 11 months of the year fell to a record

According to the results of 11 months of the year, the number of closed Russian companies decreased by a quarter compared to the same period a year earlier, according to the audit and consulting network FinExpertiza (the data of specialists are at the disposal of Lenta.ru).
The business mortality rate has become a record low over the past six years, 345.7 thousand organizations have “died”. Companies began to close noticeably less often in the Pskov region (by 67.6 percent), Kabardino-Balkaria (minus 62.7 percent), Ingushetia (minus 62.3 percent), and the Kaliningrad region (minus 61.1 percent). The trend is also expressed in such subjects as the Orenburg region, Chuvashia, Krasnoyarsk Territory (fall within 50 percent). However, in 15 regions, businesses began to be liquidated more often. The worst situation is in the Chukotka Autonomous Okrug (an increase of more than 90 percent), in the Stavropol Territory (plus 67.7 percent), and the Lipetsk region (plus 63.8 percent).
Business deaths jumped sharply in 2020 amid the coronavirus crisis, and the rate remained high from mid-summer to the end of the year. In 2021, the trend began to decline: both the number of closed businesses and the difference between open and liquidated enterprises turned out to be at a minimum since 2015. Last year, from January to November, the number of closed organizations was about 270 thousand more than the number of open ones, and this year the difference has decreased to about 143 thousand.
The study is based on data from the Federal Tax Service (FTS) on the registration and closure of commercial organizations; the calculations did not take into account the reorganization of legal entities. FinExpertiza drew attention to the positive trend in the situation with the mortality of companies in the summer: then the company indicated that the number of enterprises that had closed by the end of May also dropped to a six-year low. For five months, 121.1 thousand enterprises were liquidated, the analytical service of the company calculated.
