David Cameron heads the British Foreign Office: what is the policy’s position regarding Ukraine

He replaced James Claverley in the position.

Former British Prime Minister David Cameron has returned to the country's government. This time he headed the Ministry of Foreign Affairs.

The New York Times reports this.

The publication notes that Cameron's appointment is an extraordinary turn for the former prime minister, who is best remembered for organizing the 2016 referendum. As you know, it led to the UK's exit from the European Union. Cameron himself advocated for Britain to remain part of the bloc, and when the country was voted to leave by a narrow margin, he resigned.

Position towards Ukraine

The new Foreign Minister promised to help the government of Rishi Sunak cope with various challenges, writes The Telegraph, in particular the war in Ukraine.

“We face a huge array of international challenges, including the war in Ukraine and the crisis in the Middle East. At this time of profound global change, rarely has it been more important for this country to support our allies, strengthen our partnerships and make our voices heard,” the official emphasized.

Cameron also admitted that he had been out of politics in recent years, but expressed hope that this would not prevent him from achieving his goal.

“I hope that my experience – as Conservative leader for eleven years and Prime Minister for six – will help help the Prime Minister tackle these vital issues,” David Cameron concluded.

Let us remind you that former British Prime Minister Boris Johnson will become the presenter of the British TV channel GB News. It positions itself as a platform presenting an alternative view of events.
