Former England footballer David Beckham on Instagram commented on the death of former Argentina player Diego Maradona.
Beckham called the day of Maradona's death sad for all football and thanked the Argentinean for his greatness. “Someone who played with passion, with soul and was nothing more than a pure genius … I was so excited when I met Diego,” the athlete wrote, attaching a joint photo.
The death of 60-year-old Maradona became known on November 25. Death was due to a heart attack. The last thing the Argentine said was “I'm not feeling well.” In early November, he underwent brain surgery.
Maradona is known for his performances for Barcelona, Napoli and Newells Old Boys. As part of the Argentina national team, he became world champion in 1986. Maradona is the best footballer of the 20th century according to FIFA.
