The date of arrival of Russian Ambassador to the United States Anatoly Antonov in Moscow has been disclosed. This is stated in an entry on the Russian Foreign Ministry's Facebook page.
He will arrive in the Russian capital on March 20. In the course of consultations at the Russian Foreign Ministry and other departments, ways of “straightening out the Russian-American ties that are in crisis” will be discussed. The statement emphasizes that good and pragmatic ties between Moscow and Washington meet the wishes of Russians and Americans, as well as the entire international community.
“The current situation is a consequence of the purposeful policy of Washington, which over the past years, in fact, deliberately led bilateral interaction to a dead end. The administration's unconstructive course towards our country does not meet the interests of Russia and the United States, and some ill-considered statements by American leaders do endanger the already excessively confrontational relations, ”the Foreign Ministry noted.
On March 17, it was reported that the decision to summon Antonov to Moscow was made in order to analyze the prospects for relations with Washington. The Russian Foreign Ministry announced this a few hours after US President Joe Biden recounted his conversation with Russian leader Vladimir Putin, during which, according to him, he warned his colleague about the inevitability of punishment for meddling in American elections.
