Danish Foreign Minister Jeppe Kofod has publicly apologized for having sex with a 15-year-old girl, an activist of his party. Berlingske writes about this.
“I was drunk and stupid. I understand that asking for forgiveness is not enough. I would like to change everything, but I cannot – but I can learn from my mistakes, ”the minister said.
The incident happened in 2008 during an Easter course. Then 34-year-old Kofod was one of the high-ranking members of the Social Democratic Youth of Denmark (DSU) party, which included a 15-year-old girl. After the man gave a lecture, he invited the girl to his room, where he had sex with her.
According to Kofod, he did not know how old she was. The incident became known almost immediately: then the politician apologized and resigned. However, he later returned to politics, and in 2019 took over as Danish Foreign Minister.
The age of consent in Denmark is 15, so Kofod did not actually break the law. Despite this, his act has been widely criticized by social media users and Western media.
