The main danger of Telegram channels is anonymity and lack of responsibility for the dissemination of unverified, falsified and deliberately manipulative information.
Secretary of the National Security and Defense Council Alexey Danilov reported this on Facebook.
He noted that the consequences of the dissemination by “unnamed authors” of photographs of the results of air defense work, the movement of the Defense Forces or the deployment of military units could be the death of civilians and military personnel.

Also, according to Danilov, the Russian regime widely uses Telegram platforms to try to destabilize Ukrainian society.
“2019 marks the peak of activity of the Russian special services in infiltrating political Telegram channels into the Ukrainian information space, technologies that were tested in various variations in 2014-15 in the occupied territories,” the report says.
In addition, the network of Telegram channels administered by the 85th main center of the special service of the Main Directorate of the General Staff of the Russian Armed Forces (the psychological operations unit of the Russian Armed Forces) is still popular in Ukraine.
The NSDC Secretary notes that the threat of influence from the Putin regime on the 10 million Ukrainian audience of Telegram users has not gone away.
He noted that the main requirement for the activities of Telegram channels is de-anonymization of activities and compliance with generally accepted journalistic standards in their work.
– Prevention of the threat – media literacy and constant work to identify and expose facts of disinformation and manipulation. In parallel with this, there should be a process of creating a high-quality Ukrainian information product, creating a situation of content dominance in the Ukrainian Telegram segment,” Danilov concluded.
