Czech Republic may extradite Russian participant of Crimean occupation to Ukraine - ambassador

The Prague City Court decided to allow the extradition of a Russian citizen, who actively participated in the occupation of Crimea, Alexander Franchetti, to Ukraine.

Ukrainian Ambassador to the Czech Republic Yevhen Perebiynis wrote about this on his Twitter page.

He clarified that the defense is going to appeal to the Supreme Court, and the final decision on this case will be made by the Minister of Justice of the Czech Republic.

According to him, although this decision of the Czech court is not the final point in this case, it is an important step towards bringing the Russian to justice.

Recall that last year Franchetti was detained at the airport in Prague by Czech law enforcement agencies. The request for detention was filed by Ukrainian law enforcement officers.

Ukraine suspects him of participating in illegal actions that led to the temporary occupation of the Crimean peninsula by the Russian Federation.
