Czech Republic announced emergency mode due to second wave of coronavirus

The Czech authorities have declared an emergency situation (ES) from October 5 due to the start of the second wave of coronavirus. This was reported on the local government's Twitter page.

It is noted that the new regime will operate for a month. Schools and other public institutions will be closed in the country. In total in the Czech Republic at the moment there are 68 thousand infected, more than 600 people have died. It is known that the number of victims of the coronavirus in September exceeded the April maximum. Previously, a similar regime in the Czech Republic was already in effect from March 12 to May 17.

On September 13, Roman Prymula, Commissioner of the Government of the Republic for Science and Research, announced the start of the second wave of coronavirus. He noted that the Czech Republic is seeing a higher growth rate in the number of confirmed cases of COVID-19 than during the first wave. The republic became the second European country to announce a new peak in incidence.

Prior to that, Austria announced the start of the second wave of the coronavirus pandemic. Chancellor of the country Sebastian Kurz urged the population to comply with measures to prevent the spread of infection.
