Czech farmers cancel protest over assassination attempt on Fico

Czech farmers decided to cancel the protest in Prague after the assassination attempt on the Prime Minister Slovakia Roberta Fico.

The organizers of the action stated that they “want to defuse the situation” and contribute to stabilizing the situation after the assassination attempt on Fico.

It is not yet known to what date the farmers will postpone their protest. President of the ČTC Agrarian Chamber Jan Dolezal said that the new date of the action will be determined based on the results of negotiations with the Ministries of Finance and Agriculture.

In turn, the head of the Ministry of Agriculture of the Czech Republic, Marek Vyborny, welcomed the farmers’ decision to postpone the protest, saying that it was “logical and responsible.”

“I believe that this will help stabilize the situation and reduce tension in the Czech Republic,” the minister emphasized.
