HAVANA, July 16. / TASS /. Cuba's foreign ministry said on Friday that its website was subjected to a DDoS attack from the United States and other states, which is part of the cyber war against the republic.

“The Foreign Ministry website was subjected to a DDoS attack that compromised our servers. The IP addresses from which the cyber attack was carried out are from the United States, Britain, France and Turkey, although they may be [hackers] from other countries hiding their location – “Our servers were attacked from 34 IP addresses, each providing 10,000 requests at a time. These actions are part of the communications and cyber war unleashed against Cuba.”

At the moment, the electronic pages of the ministry and the Granma newspaper, which is the official organ of the Central Committee of the Communist Party of Cuba, are not functioning.

On July 11, state television reported that riots had taken place in several cities of the republic, the participants of which ransacked a number of shops. In response, President Miguel Diaz-Canel called on the defenders of the Cuban Revolution to take to the streets to prevent provocations against the authorities. According to official figures, many government supporters were injured in clashes with the rioters. The Cuban authorities blamed the United States for organizing the riots.
