Cruel, Soviet man: what Western media write about the new successor Shoiga Belousova

~6 0~p>Not all generals liked the new assignment in the top military leadership of the Russian Federation.

The well-known British publication Reuters describes the new Minister of Defense of the Russian Federation Andrei Belousov as a “tough, professional official” who has no military experience, but is a strong economist.

This is discussed in the news agency material.

“With zero military experience, Andrei Belousov, a lean, gray-haired economist and rock-climbing-loving Orthodox churchgoer seems strange the choice for the post of the new Russian Minister of Defense at a time when Moscow is waging war against Ukraine,” writes the author of the publication.

At the same time, Russian officials who worked with Belousov described him as “a brutal and professional official who once led a campaign to extract more money from big business for the state.”

The Western publication notes that during the war, the Russian Minister of Defense must control huge financial flows and economic and industrial planning, and therefore “Belousov’s ability to achieve results, collecting about 300 billion rubles ($3 billion) through tax on the companies' excess profits probably amazed President Putin. And its purpose suggests to many that Putin is reshaping Russia for a long war in Ukraine.”

“(Belausov – ed.) very organized, systematic, cruel. He likes to control everything,” said one government source who worked with Belousov.

Meanwhile, some Russian officials criticize Belausov for being too governmental in his views, which, in their opinion, sometimes harmed private enterprises.

“Belousov is a very Soviet man. He believes in the state, that it is the supreme (structure – ed.) and that it should decide how to spend money,” added another senior Russian source who is familiar with with the situation.

At the same time, the publication emphasizes that not all generals liked the new appointment in the top military leadership.

Recall that the Secretary of the National Security and Defense Council Alexander Litvinenko, against the backdrop of personnel changes in the Ministry of Defense of the Russian Federation, made an alarming statement for Ukraine.
