Croatia to adopt euro from 2023: final decision approved

by alex

On July 12, the Council of the European Union finally approved the legal acts for Croatia's accession to the eurozone on January 1, 2023.

Thus, the last three legal acts were adopted. This completes the process in the Council of the EU, which will allow Croatia to become a member of the euro area.

This is reported on the website of the Council of the EU.

One of the adopted acts establishes the exchange rate between the euro and the Croatian kuna on Kn 7.53450 per EUR 1. This corresponds to the current exchange rate.

“I would like to congratulate my colleague Zdravko Marić and all of Croatia for becoming the 20th country to join to the euro area. The transition to the euro is not a race, but a responsible political decision. Croatia has successfully met all the necessary economic criteria and will use the euro from January 1, 2023,” said Czech Finance Minister Zbinek Staniura.

Recall that Croatia was one of nearly 50 UN states that issued a statement condemning Russia's attempts to justify a military invasion of Ukraine due to false narratives.
