Qualcomm Technologies has announced its latest development – audio streaming technology for smartphones without loss of quality. This is Qualcomm's aptX Lossless technology – the next step in the development of the already proven aptX Adaptive system. The new product expands the capabilities of the Qualcomm Sound audio processor and allows you to transmit and receive sound via Bluetooth-channel with CD-quality (16 bit, 44.1 kHz).
According to the manufacturer, thanks to the combination of technologies, fast and accurate signal recognition and upscaling occurs, and when the user is in a favorable radio frequency environment, files are played in CD quality without loss. Also, to ensure bandwidth, Qualcomm Bluetooth High Speed Link technology is used, which provides a stable speed of more than 1 Mbps. Thanks to the unity of Bluetooth High Speed Link and aptX Adaptive technologies, when the radio frequency situation deteriorates, the signal is not cut off, but gradually decreases to 140 Kbps, which the user will perceive as a continuation of high-quality sound.
Qualcomm VP James Chapman said the technology was invented because 64% of smartphone owners surveyed by the company consider lossless sound to be the main factor in choosing a device. Lossless playback is often the key to buying wireless headphones.
